Quick Facts
EN 1.4418 / AISI S165M (SS 2387) is a corrosion and acid resistant soft martensitic chrome-nickel-molybdenum steel. It has a martensitic-austenitic-ferritic mixed structure. It is characterized by very good resistance to corrosion in aggressive media, with good mechanical and impact properties. 1.4418 is often used in mechanically and corrosively stressed component, such as water turbine in chemical industry, pump shafts, centrifuge parts, automotive and aerospace industry.

Characteristics
EN 1.4418 exhibits higher resistance to corrosion compared to other martensitic stainless steel grades due to its higher alloy content. It not susceptible to intergranular corrosion as well and has good fatigue resistance. With the low carbon content, EN 1.4418 has good weldability using all standard techniques.
Weldability: good
Machinability: 4 (1 = poor – 10 = good)
Polishability: yes
Corrosion class: 3 (0 = poor – 5 = good)
