Quick Facts
EN 1.4550/ AISI 347 is a columbium stabilized austenitic stainless steel. The AISI 347 is typically use in corrosive and high temperature environment. It is known for its great excellent weldability and good ductility as well as great mechanical properties. Besides, it offers great creep and stress rupture properties. Generally, the 347 stainless steel outperform the AISI 321 and AISI 304 in terms of corrosion resistance.
Typical Applications
- Automotive industry
- Chemical processing at high temperature
- Food industry
- Petrochemical sector
- Soap Industry

Characteristics
The 347 has a good general corrosion resistance which is better than the 321 and 304, including excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion at an exposure to high temperature. It works well in most diluted organic acids at moderate temperatures but does not perform well in more corrosive media such as chlorine solutions or sulfuric acids. AISI 321 has lesser machinability but can be readily welded by most standard processes and post weld heat treatment is not necessary.
Weldability: good
Machinability: 3 (1 = poor – 10 = good)
Polishability: yes
Corrosion class: 4 (0 = poor – 5 = good)
